El Shorouk City is one of the third-generation cities in the east of Cairo that was established by the presidential decree (325/1995). The City of El Shorouk is part of the Cairo Governorate and occupies 16,11000 acres. Of this land area, 9,2000 acres have been dedicated to urban development and facilities, leaving the remaining land area for roads, green areas, and other services. Because of its careful design, El Shorouk City will continue to be among Egypt's greenest cities. The city is administrated by the New Urban Communities Authority of Egypt which has created many educational facilities, hospitals and health centers, commercial centers, and sports centers. The city is unique in that it is 250 meters above sea level, which has a good impact on the weather. The weather in the summer and winter months are both pleasant.
